If you are new, we would be delighted to welcome you. Our club caters for anyone with any special need and their family members.

 

Our swimming session lasts for an hour - usually from 3:00pm to 4:00pm each Sunday afternoon at Western Leisure Centre.  

 

Our sessions are play-based and relaxed.  We normally start with individual work, where the swimmer is supported in practising new skills and techniques.  We then progress into game-based activities where techniques are reinforced in a larger group.  All children work towards graded badges.  

 

Hot showers and some specialist equipment are available in the changing areas.  There is also a family changing area.

 

Each swimmer is supported by a volunteer who has received basic training in the Halliwick Method of Swimming Therapy, and some volunteers have also attended further courses. All volunteers are CRB checked.  In addition, we do need each child to be accompanied by a parent or carer who is also prepared to go into the pool if necessary to maintain the appropriate ratios of adults to swimmers.

 

Before any swimmer is able to join us, they need to fill in an application form and gain permission from their doctor or specialist. This also helps the volunteers and leaders to understand some of the specific needs of each swimmer.

 

 

Fees for the year September 2021 - July 2022 are :

 

                                    £110 for 1 young person

                                    £55 for each sibling over the age of 5. ​

     £25 for each sibling under 5
